Let me just start off by saying I'm pretty sure 99% of the people that read this thread have no idea who I am or what I'm about. Well to the 99% all I have to say is your lives have been meaningless up until now. The 1% know what I'm talking about. I'm all about the 1% and this board would be nothing without them! NOTHING! Second, for those that do remember me... and more importantly those that do not know me... A wall of text is about to hit you right smack dab in your smug face. So if you're trying to read this on your fancy iPhone or Android device you should prepare for your eyes to bleed. You've been warned. If you don't have a smug face then my apologies. This would be a lot easier if we did this face to face so I could see how unsmug you are. However, then you would see that I'm not a 6'10, 350 lb monster sitting behind a keyboard and computer screen... which I am totally a 7'7, 550 lb monster! Also I'm whatever minority you find most frightening. Grrrrr!!!!!

Some may say my return is me just being a bandwagon fan and I would tell you to shut up your stupid face. I'm sorry, that was rude. Why do we do this? Is it that difficult for us to admit that sometimes we feel insecure and lash out due to our immaturity? The mark of an emotionally mature person is to know when you are wrong and to own up to it. So where have I been all this time? Working mostly. That and playing video games when I'm not watching the Sabres or Bills crush all hope for joy. I've suffered in silence for years alone, by myself, and with my cat (Pierre). All the while wishing that the NHL had never taken over the Sabres Junkie forum or that it would return. Who here remembers the great schism of yester-years when the NHL took over the forums and had a crappy site that was unreliable and shitty? I remember and pepperidge farm remembers too.

If my jokes are dating me a bit it's because I'm at a point in my life where I'm starting to not understand the younger generation and the sound of their music/lingo makes me angry. So if you're too young to get any of this I just want you to know that without ever having met you I probably hate you. By "you" I literally mean you. Not really. Possibly? I don't know say something is "ball as life" or some bullshit and we'll know real fast where you stand with me. I hope it's to my right, that's my best side. What are we talking about again?

All joking aside for this paragraph, I really did think Sabres Junkie had shut down. I had saved the NHL forum and that stopped working. To be fair I didn't check in often and then one day it was like your significant other broke it off with me out of nowhere. I mean I get it, no one aspires to be a side chick, but damn girl I have feelings too! So I figured that like jeggings it's time had come and gone. I really tried to not make a joke and to be serious. That obviously failed. Whatever, I'm sorry we can't all be perfect like you. So how did I find this place after all of these years? Well you see I go on facebook like once every few days and saw some random ass post for some artist I "liked" and it caused me to look at all of the things I had liked over the years on facebook.

I saw SabresJunkie and I felt a twinge of nostalgia cry out in my heart. Then I noticed that someone had made a post in October of 2014 and then anger, rage, paranoia, and gas overtook me. I made chili Sunday for the Bills game and I've been eating that for lunch everyday. TMI? Well maybe this wouldn't be such a onesided conversation if you ever returned my texts! I digress. So I saw someone posted something in October of last year and I thought "good job facebook you never brought this up in my newsfeed but I heaven forbid I miss a picture of everyone's cat... fuck you facebook." Then I thought to myself "oh man wouldn't it be great if the site still existed." THEN! I saw that there was a website on the page. I clicked it and... well kids as they used to say back in my day "hasta la vista" which is Dutch French for "back in my day" which as any true Sabres fan knows was Darcy Regier's tag line back in 2009. I mean I'm pretty embarrassed for you that you didn't know and that you'd even spend anytime to fact check it. Does this look like school? Nerd.

So anyway now I'm lost in my post and I'm not sure where we're going with this. I'm glad to see that this site has survived thanks to a core of individuals whose love and passion for the Sabres and SabresJunkie community has endured the test of time (5 years-ish?). While the site doesn't seem nearly as active as it once was, it warms my heart to see it still exists. I'll probably post infrequently and will mostly lurk on here. I'm a lvl 98 lurker in Skyrim. I'm joking, I maxed out lurking in Skyrim 3 years ago like every other nerd with nothing better to do.

I hope all the people I knew before are doing well and to the new people. Welcome, you've found yourselves a great little community and if you try to ruin this I will tell you "don't be that guy" and then spam your inbox box with chain letters and weird Twilight fan fiction. Is that still a thing? I hope not.

Eichel looks good too. I know the past 5 years have been brutal but I'm really excited about this team. Anytime you have a young talented group it's exciting to dream about what it could be and follow along.

Heh...yeah, the junkie is still here...although I did contemplate shutting it down after last season.
Lots of folks gravitate towards reddit or twitter now and forums are becoming less popular.

I would check this all the time (and still do) for new posts. I think social media and the fact that the past two seasons have been downright awful have contributed to this place being a ghost town.

I have posted on several forums but the banter, humor, and hockey intellect of the people on here was nice. I'll post frequently during the season for sure. I have two years of pent up fandom that has come out in reading hard into prospects and such. When I get time later I may run down the list. We still have a deep pool of prospects.

What's up you degenerates, glad to see this place is still in existence. Other places suck, all of them. I followed Mike ("boosh") to this bills forum with what have to be the most obnoxious collective of ass buggering twat waffles you've ever experienced. So, it's nice there's still a place to talk hockey with vaguely sane individuals. Although I didn't read the OP so maybe i'm wrong.

I was considering not getting center ice, only listening on wgr550.com to the games, but...it seems like this might be a good year to witness.

Naw it wasn't the politics, I don't care what peoples opinions are on that, it was the crap like moonie talking about someone raping my infant daughter. Spartacus making everything in the forum about him, Blondie being painfully stupid, just the same people being obnoxious in the same ways over and over, ugh.

Dammit, I miss everyone from here. Always enjoyed reading the banter here.

I'm sure social media has changed some things, but IMO forums work best for sports. Reddit doesn't work well chronologically, and Twitter is dumb. Maybe with the years of hockey purgatory and hockey hell gone, there will be more crawling out of the woodwork. SabresFans is still very active...and I do love that site too, but there was something about this group that was fun.

There are a lot of really great hockey minds in here. I hope this place really gets rolling again. I always read on here and didn't post for the longest time but decided to jump in. The ribbing was most always playful. Where some people jumped off and some heated debates leading to people leaving this site was when the nuking of the organization began. I remember a lot of squabbles. One of them leading to someone becoming an Avs fan I believe.
