ill admit, i stumbled upon this with all the talk of the old boards. this is a pro team in england, the basingstoke bisons.  the head is reversed, colours changed, and the mane is different. the overall logo changes SLIGHTLY in other areas, but overall, its just too similar to ignore.

theyve had it since 96.... maybe the sabres done stole it from them. or they both had the same designer. the lower right is also missing in their logo. |

how dare you correct me, phil! you are probably right though. my guess is they altered it enough to not be an issue. funny story, in highschool, one of our special ed teachers, of all people, contacted the penn state nittney lions to ask for permission to use their logo, which we had, illegally, for several years. they said no, then checked our web site out, to discover we were using the wisconsin universities rounded "W"... they contacted wisconsin, who threatened lawsuit if lapeer west didnt remove it from the website, football helmets, hockey jerseys, basketball courts, ect. it set west back ALOT! |

No, I mean, I looked up their logo history on their site, and this has only been their logo since 2003. |

That's similar enough to get nailed for infringement should the rights owner choose to pursue it. You can't just change the colors and add some flames and try to say it's something totally new and original. |

And since it's in a different country they don't apply to US copyright laws and such. It's the same as how you can still download Guitar Tabs from internet sites from Russia, because they don't have to meet RIAA standards in the US and any US based guitar tab site had already been taken down. |
