Kaleta did look like crap after he kissed the wall on the Fisher hit. I'm assuming they did some xrays after the game and maybe found a fracture or something.

I was at morning skate today, and saw Kaleta while we were waiting for autographs. He didn't have a cast or anything on, my assumption is that, he's probably sitting out with neck stiffness, especially against a team we classically have owned. I am assuming it's a better safe than sorry policy; considering he'll be an important part of this roster come playoff time.

Keeping Ennis up for next season. He's got some serious talent is very good with the puck. It's sucks losing Connolly because he's been pretty darn good this year. I would have thought Gaustad was one that might be injuried after he made a faceplant and landed awkward into the boards last night.

If you're wondering about why only one forward got called up and they'll use seven defensemen here's the rules on emergency recalls. "The NHL permits each team to carry up to 23 players on its active roster, subject to the constraints of the salary cap. However, it also requires a minimum of 2 goaltenders, 6 defenseman and 12 forwards on its active roster at all times. A player is not considered on the active roster if they have been placed on the Injured Reserve List or are suspended by the NHL." My guess is Raffi Torres and Kaleta are on IR. With Connolly day to day they didn't want to IR him and keep him out at least a week. Kaleta could be more of a long term thing. If you read the rule, it only opens up one spot on the roster for emergency recall. If the team falls below any of these minimum categories, they are permitted to recall a player without subjection to waivers in order to meet the NHL minimum roster requirements. However, the player must be returned to the affiliate when the player he is replacing returns from their inactive status. (Note: This is why teams have been forced to play with less than the minimum required players last season. Teams had a number of players who were hurt but were not on the Injured Reserve and the team did not have cap space to recall additional players to fill their lineup. Had the team placed players on the IR, they could have used the Emergency Recall to call up enough players to fill out the minimum lineup (again subject to the cap), but then they wouldn't have been allowed to use the players until they completed the minimum period on the IR.) Teams also gets four recalls after the trading deadline.

Let's talk about Ennis and everyone else's instant chemistry. Ennis was being double shifter as second and fourth line center all night, as well as playing the walls during the PP, and he look excellent with everyone he skated with. The kid was playing on adrenaline and four hours of sleep with guys he's played with once before and immediately made the team better. The control he showed to weave around the Tampa defenseman on Mair's goal was fantastic.

He's got "roster out of camp" written all over him for next season.

Is he now on a standard recall? If so, he stays just like you're hypothesizing even if the injured player comes back until Darcy sends him back down.

My dad said he heard on the radio that Ennis has been taken off emergency recall...what exactly does that mean? That he doesn't have to automatically get sent back down once the player he's filling in for returns?

Ennis doesn't have to clear waivers to be sent down or recalled. Hasn't played in 40 games and doesn't have the years required either.
